Pre-Construction Work

Before construction on the interchange proper can begin some extra work needs to be completed.

As mentioned in the Purpose and Needs there is a Park & Ride facility that needs to be relocated. Because the facility cannot function during construction it will be moved first.

In addition to the Park & Ride facility there are cell phone towers that need to be relocated. They will be relocated to outside the future Partial Cloverleaf Interchange NB On-Ramp.

There are also multiple trees located within the existing interchange that will need to be removed.

Stage 1

The first stage will involve construction of the outer ramps. Additionally Limonite will be expanded on the lead up to the interchange. While this is happening traffic will flow through the interchange as it currently is with minimally expected delays.

Stage 2A

For stage 2A the existing ramps will be deconstructed. Traffic will flow through the interchange like a spread diamond at this time.

Stage 2B

With the existing ramps gone the on-ramp loops can now be built. Like in stage 2A the interchange will still be functioning like a spread diamond.

Stage 3A

Now that the interchange ramps are completed all that is left is the bridge. To allow traffic to continue to flow across the bridge will be built in secetions. The first section to be built will be the north half of the bridge with traffic flowing across the existing bridge.

Stage 3B

After the north half of the bridge is completed the southern bridge will be deconstructed and replaced. At this time traffic will flow along the newly completed northern half of the bridge.

Complete

For planning and uniformity of the bid documents a construction staging plan was created. It was here the feasibility of construction was considered as well as any significan delays due to construction were identified.
