Amanda Williamson
Amanda Williamson was born in Anchorage, AK on a military base. Her family moved to Oceanside, CA when her father was medically retired from the Air Force. Amanda's father could no longer work as an Aeronautical Engineer so he decided to go back to school for computer science. Graduating with a bachelors degree in Computer Science with a cumulative GPA of 4.0 Scott, Amanda's father, taught Amanda the importance of education. Scott was very involved in giving back to the community. Scott and Debbie, Amanda's mom, were members in their local Kiwanis club, and influenced Amanda to get a degree that would enable her to give back. With the support of Scott and Debbie Amanda decided to go to Cal Poly Pomona for a degree in Civil Engineering. Amanda started her first internship after her first quarter at Cal Poly and developed her interest in transportation engineering. Amanda gained valuable experience alongside her education with 4 1/2 years of internship experience. She will graduate in June of 2016.
As Design Lead of this project Amanda was responsible for managing the design team. She standardized AutoCAD drawings, checked drawings, and managed scheduling throughout the project. Amanda was also responsible for looking ahead at what the design team would be working on and assessing potential problems that would arise. When problems arose during the design process Amanda researched solutions to the problems. Amanda was team member in drafting the various alternatives, and creating the 3D model.
